  1. Disappointing

    by Kdindia on 12 Tue,2016

I was excited to find this product in time for my holiday gift soap-making. I have used this type of soap mold many times before for melt and pour recipes without incident, but for some reason this mold started melting as soon as I began pouring in the soap. As the mold collapsed, I watched the melted soap begin to overflow onto the kitchen counter, like a slow motion nightmare.

Response from CFH: The temperature of these molds can only handle up to about 145ºF, but there is always the possibility a mold can be defective. We are terribly sorry for your experience, and hope that our reaching out to you to resolve the issue has been satisfactory. Happy soapmaking!

    • Does this mold need to be placed inside a sturdy box in order to keep it from bulging out on the sides or can it be used alone? I have seen videos online of this type box being used, but only within a solid wooden box.
    • Yes, it's best to have some support with the plastic molds. They will bulge somewhat if used without, which does not damage the soap, but it may not give you the straight lines you are looking for.

    • Can it be used also with crock pot heated soap?
    • As long as the soap has cooled to 145ºF, you can use this mold. It's appropriate for use with cold-processed soaps or melt and pour soap bases.
