This unit has made greek yogurt affordable to me. I love the jars instead of a big tub like unit. I make my own Kimchee, sauerkraut, and now yogurt. YEA.

I wish it held more containers for the yogurt, but other than that, just great!!

Response from CFH: There is a top tier http://www.culturesforhealth.com/top-tier-for-euro-cuisine-yogurt-maker.html for both the YM80 http://www.culturesforhealth.com/euro-cuisine-yogurt-maker.html and the YM100 http://www.culturesforhealth.com/euro-cuisine-yogurt-maker-timer-ym100.html. Hope that might be helpful!

  5. Love, love, love

    by Sue on 08/03/2016

I have had my yogurt maker now for about 3-4 weeks. I have made yogurt each week. I have no complaints about this product. I had a Salton yogurt maker back in the day but this machine is so much superior. Love the top rack for lids. Very quiet when running (actually you would not even know it was running). Jars are 6 oz each which is a good size. I run it for 13 hours to get the texture I want. It was a bit high in cost and I debated on which machine to buy. I made the right decision. This machine has a timer and turn off.

  7. I love it!

    by Jennifer on 03/28/2015

I used to make raw milk yogurt in my dehydrator for my kids, but then we all went dairy free due to my youngest with an emerging dairy allergy. I decided to try this yogurt maker because the portions are perfect for my kids, I don't have to worry about whether my dehydrator's temp is consistent enough and it just sits on my counter and does what it does best while I have my attention on other things. The only thing that I was disappointed about is the plastic lid is very breakable. My daughter dropped it on our ceramic tile kitchen floor and a big chunk of the corner broke off. I fixed it by taping it with clear packing tape and it works great still, just not as nice looking anymore.

  8. Makes it easy

This yogurt maker makes it easy to make homemade yogurt. I'm happy it has glass jars, and they are just the right size for me. Just set the timer and forget it. Great item.

  9. SIMPLE Yogurt Maker

    by J on 08/31/2014

Just a little cooking and chemistry and there you have the makings for some really good homemade yogurt. The maker is so simple to use and the yogurt is really tasty. You'll need to experiment a little with the total fermentation time; too long and the result is a little curdled on the bottom of the jars. A slightly shorter time results in a smooth and creamy yogurt, not too sharp, not too dull. This is a fun way to make all the yogurt you want.

  10. Easy for busy people

    by dipperanch on 05/05/2014

I've been making my own yogurt for years with a yogurt maker I picked up in a second-hand store. However, that maker went haywire awhile ago and overheated. I heard about Cultures for Health on a cooking show on NPR and got interested in the heirloom strains of yogurt. Before I had been mixing some of my favorite commercial brands as starter. The heirlooms were interesting, a little complicated by all the choices, but I didn't have a good way to keep them heated while culturing. So I tried the Yogotherm. But it is just too cold in my uninsulated house in the winter, I couldn't regularly get a good culture even by wrapping the Yogotherm in a down vest. Finally, I decided to order the Euro Cuisine Yogurt Maker. I have only tried it twice so far but it is so easy and fits well into my busy life. yummmm.

    • Can I use soy milk and also regular milk, skim and 1%
    • Soy milk can be used in the EuroCuisine although you will likely need a thickening agent, soy does not coagulate like dairy and usually needs a little help. You will find information about thickeners here: http://www.culturesforhealth.com/thickening-homemade-yogurt Skim and 1% milk can also be used, the results may be thinner than using whole milk but it will still be delicious.

    • Can I use this to make greek yogurt, or do I need a separate strainer?
    • Our Greek Yogurt can be made using any yogurt maker or method that maintains a consistent temperature between 105° and 112°. To achieve that delightful store-bought Greek style texture, you will want to strain the whey which can be done with cheesecloth, butter muslin or the Greek Yogurt Maker-Strainer.

    • Can this machine be used to make amasake or Chinese rice wine or would the larger 2 quart (I think) work better for this purpose? Also, could I use guar gum or another thickener if I make yogurt with this machine? Thank You very much! KS
    • This machine runs at about 110°F and so cannot get hot enough to culture amazake.
It does work very well to culture yogurts with thickeners. Here is a link to more information about thickening yogurt: http://www.culturesforhealth.com/thickening-homemade-yogurt

    • I have had this yogurt maker for many years. I just began to use it again. In the book it says something about only use the starter once I do not understand. Don't I always have a starter going forward devoting one jar to my next batch?

      Thank you!!
    • The instructions that come with the yogurt maker often refer to using direct-set (single-use) yogurt starter or even using store yogurt as starter. In those cases, you may be able to re-culture using a small amount of your previous batch as starter for the next batch. Eventually, you will need some fresh starter or store yogurt.

There are also heirloom (reusable) cultures, such as our Greek and Bulgarian Starters, that are reusable indefinitely, as long as you make a new batch every 7 days.
