    • i would really like to purchase this but i do not want to put my yogurt in plastic food grade or not. Can i put the yogurt in jars and then it will hold them or is that not possible and if so will it hold quart jars?
      plus i am trying to do gaps diet and it says to let your yogurt sit for 24 hours it all that possible

    • The Yogotherm will easily hold a quart-size mason jar. The jar is smaller in diameter than the Yogotherm's interior pail, so you can pack the jar with a dishtowel to help hold the heat.

      If you let the yogurt culture for 24 hours, it may lose some heat during that time, but should continue to culture okay. If you are using an heirloom (reculturing) variety of yogurt, we advise that you remove a small quantity at the end of the normal culturing period, and refrigerate it to use for starting the next batch.

    • Can you tell me the dimensions of the (BPA free) inner plastic bucket for the Yogotherm yogurt maker? I'm would like to purchase a glass container in place of the plastic one before I purchase the yogurt maker.

    • Do you happen to know the length of time the yogurt will remain insulated and maintain a consistent temp before it starts dropping? I like to incubate for 24 hours.
    • The length of time a certain temperature can be maintained by the Yogotherm Incubator will vary, based on ambient temperature and batch size. Wrapping a towel around the unit can help to maintain internal temperature for longer periods.

    • Does this maker simply keep things at whatever temp. they start out at or does it somehow keep things specifically at 110 degrees? Our house gets so cold at night in the winter that even though I would like to use the mesophilic starter, I'm thinking of warming the milk to room temp. and then using this maker to just keep it that warm, unless it keeps things at a specific, higher temp.

    • The Yogotherm Yogurt Incubator is designed to maintain temperatures but a very low ambient temp may impact the ability to hold the temperature for an extended period. Warming the milk to room temp will help but make sure it isn't too warm, the mesophilic cultures are not fond of high temps.

    • Once refrigerated, how long will the yogurt last before it "expires"?
    • If you are using our reusable cultures, and plan to reculture it, it will stay viable for 7 days. If you are just storing the yogurt to eat, it should last 1 month. But always use your best judgement!

    • What are the dimensions of the inner container? I'd like to find a glass container that will fit snugly, to use in lieu of the plastic one that it comes with.

    • Can I fill the container only half if I don't want to make that much yogurt at a time? Or will it affect the temperature ?
    • It will cool more quickly. For smaller batches, it's better to put the yogurt in a smaller jar, then pack it into the yogotherm with a towel around it for extra insulation.​

    • I noticed that some people also make soft cheese with their yogurt makers.

      Can cheese be made in this model?
    • The Yogotherm works great for soft cheeses but would not be suitable for a hard cheese.

    • Do you store the yogurt in the liner or do you then scoop it out into another container?
    • You could do either. If you want to make another batch of yogurt though, I would scoop it out into another container so you have the liner free!

Purchased my yogotherm in 1998. This is the easiest way to make quality yoghurt that we have tried. Have had electronic - yield too small and too much to clean. This unit is durable, easy to use and clean. There are no parts to damage nor to wear out. It is an excellent investment. Have made 1000' s of quarts. We are completely satisfied and are ready to replace the styrofoam insert due to minor discoloration. Unbelievable value and performance. (Posted on April 19, 2013)

I used my Yogotherm Yogurt Incubator to make 2 quarts of yogurt from raw goats milk. It worked beautifully! I did heat a quart of water to boiling, put that into a covered mason jar and set mason jar inside of the Yogotherm to help bring the insulation temperature up while I heated my milk to 110 degrees. I did this because it's still winter and we keep our house relatively cool (about 65 degrees). I put the 2 quarts of heated milk into the pail, whisked in my starter, covered it and left it to culture for 8 hours on my kitchen counter. The yogurt is set and seems to be nice and thick for a raw milk yogurt. I'm very pleased with my purchase. I will admit that I was skeptical at first, but now that I've used it, I feel it is a good value with reliable results that I would happily recommend to anyone. (Posted on March 22, 2013)
