Thermophilic Type B Culture made by Abiasa: For use in Soft and Semi-soft type cheeses.

  • 10 gram package. One dose per packet.
  • Usage Rate: 1/2 tsp. per 2-4 gallons of milk or as directed by your recipe. Please note, the usage rate information is supplied by the manufacturer. Always use the amount recommended in your  specific recipe.
  • This is a direct-set (single-use) culture, no maintenance required.

  • Country of Origin: Canada



  • Lactose, ascorbic acid, live active bacteria (S. thermophilus and L. delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus)


Storage Information: Store in the refrigerator.


What is a Direct-Set Culture?

A Direct-Set culture is a one-time-use culture, and cannot be recultured (i.e., perpetuated beyond the single batch). Direct-Set cultures are often preferred by cheese makers as they require no maintenance or care. Simply keep the packet in the freezer and remove the portion for your recipe when it's time to make cheese. Most Direct-Set cultures contain multiple doses to inoculate multiple batches.

    • The description does not list this as a 'direct' set culture. However, there is a little blurb defining what a direct set culture is on the bottom. Can you pls clarify if this is a one time use direct or not?

    • Hello, seems you have cheese cultures from different producers. Can you plz tell which of those have Halal certification ?

Works for non-dairy too Review by james

I was looking for an alternative for Rejuvilac or pro-biotic pills while making cultured cashew 'cheese' I did an experiment with 4 - 2 cup batches and varied the culture on each... this culture was by far my favorite... it came out very nice even my girlfriend liked this best even though she is traditional and likes my buckwheat rejuvilac. BTW: Your support/customer support said it wouldn't work or that you hadn't tried it or something discouraging. I tried it anyway and it worked great.

Response from CFH: Our cheese cultures do contain dairy and are therefore not suitable for those with allergies or who avoid all dairy products.
