Sprouting the barley kernels reduces or eliminates phytic acid which inhibits the absorption of nutrients. Grind your own sprouted flour fresh--just prior to baking for best flavor and nutritional value.
Sprouted Barley Kernels are 100% organic. Once you grind the barley kernels into flour, the flour will generally keep for 3-4 months in the pantry, 6-8 months in the refrigerator or up to 14 months in the freezer.

- Can this be used for purposes other than making flour like side dishes and soups?
- Technically you could add the sprouted kernels to salads or soups, but they are not like vegetables - more along the lines of sunflower seeds in terms of consistency and "mouthfeel." They are the actual barley kernels that have been soaked and sprouted to increase enzyme activity.
