"Excellent resource."

I'm excited to be trying gluten-free fermented breads. I've not been happy with other gluten-free bread books. The fermented process makes sense and the book takes all of the mystery out of the process.

Why I Love This Product

Our house is completely gluten free and brown rice free as well. I needed a delicious gluten-free bread for my family. I love the idea (and taste) of sourdough, but wasn't sure how to go about it. Enter this amazing book. There are many options for gluten-free sourdough and the author, Sharon Kane, has really done her homework. My favorite sourdough starter is the buckwheat/sorghum starter and my favorite bread recipe is her Tapioca Bread #4. I've even tweaked the recipe to make my husband a cinnamon raisin bread that he loved! You do need water kefir for your sourdough boost, but that is something my family drinks and loves anyway. It's a win-win! Bonni, Customer Support Manager

  1. great purchase so far

I'm new to fermenting foods, and since my daughter is gluten-free, I knew I'd need this book in order to ferment her breads myself. I'll give a more comprehensive review once I've tried more of the recipes, but let me just go ahead and say WOW. This book takes you on the author's own baking journey in a well-laid out format, and gives many recipe variations to suit each individual's dietary needs and tastes. She does a very good job of explaining the science behind gluten-free sourdough baking so that the reader has a better understanding and confidence at creating/troubleshooting his/her own breads. I'm very pleased with this purchase thus far.

  5. Disappointed

I am quite disappointed in this book. The format and binding are rather "cheap", especially for a book that costs over $27. I was expecting a better value for the price.

I have been gluten-free for several years, but am new to sourdough baking. Sharon's techniques and recipes seem quite complicated and unpractical for a mother with young children and a busy household.

I will be returning my copy for a refund.

I was not expecting this book to be so complicated in all processes of recipes. I was looking for something a little less detailed and specific.

    • We don't have a way of giving you a recipe to preview but the author does maintain a blog with some recipes: http://glutenfreesourdough.blogspot.com/. We actually had an opportunity to meet the author in person and sample her bread at a conference a few months back and it was quite impressive--we would never have guessed it was gluten-free.
