Cheese Wax is specifically made for coating cheeses. It helps prevent unwanted mold growth while retaining moisture in the aging cheese. This wax is pliable and will not become brittle as will pure paraffin wax. Learn more here about Waxing Hard Cheeses

Available in 4 colors: Red, Yellow, Black, and Natural (no color).

Contains: Cheese Wax, a formulation of paraffin and microcrystalline wax, and food grade coloring (FD&C Lake Colors).

Please note, weights are approximate and may vary +/- 10%.

Yield: One pound will wax approximately 12-20 cheeses when brushed on. If the dipping method is used you will need at least 5 pounds (2.25 kg).

Note: It is safest to melt wax in a double boiler so that it is not subject to direct flame. NEVER leave melting wax unattended. Wax can explode at high temperatures.

Storage: Store in cool place, away from any high heat. Will keep indefinitely.

    • I want to make some sharp cheese and want to know if all cheese waxes are reusable. I am really looking for wax that can be washed and reused. Thanks
    • Yes! You sure can. Check out this article: Waxing Hard Cheeses http://www.culturesforhealth.com/waxing-hard-cheeses
You will want to make sure your wax is nice and warm before you put it on the new cheese.

    • Hi, I'm looking for some wax for my cheese making. How are the waxes dyed? Are there different dyes for the black, yellow and red waxes? I would prefer a colored wax but want to be careful about what they are dyed with. Thank you!
    • The information from our manufacturer is as follows:

The cheese dyes are made from raw materials in conformity with the requirements stipulated in FDA, code of federal regulations, sections 178.3710, 178.3850 and 172.866.

The dye used in the black wax is Norit Black, E 153 (activated carbon). The yellow wax uses pigment E 102 (tartrazine). The dye in the red wax is Allura Red, E 129, FD&C Red 40 (petroleum based).

I received my order very quickly. The wax is superior in quality. It has the best price that I could find on the internet. It is from a company in the USA. What more could a person want?

Easy to use and does what it is designed to do. Melts and goes on very well and when the time is right, removes from the cheese easily. Good product.
