  • Is the lactic starter used for making the sauerkraut for this juice, vegan?
  • According to the wonderful people at Caldwells:
    
    "The starter culture that we use to ferment the vegetables contains a tiny amount of skim milk powder, as a carrier. By the time this powder is added to the mass of vegetables, the ratio of milk powder in the final products (sauerkraut and sauerkraut juice) is so minute as to be undetectable, less than one part per million.
    
    At that level, we could make the 'vegan' claim, because testing would not reveal any trace of animal product. However, we decided not to make that claim, and instead let our vegan customers decide for themselves. We have plenty who are not concerned with such a minute trace, and some that are.
    
    We are developing a starter culture that will be completely dairy-free."

  • The sauerkraut juice is sold in a case, each case includes six (6) bottles, eight ounces each. Additional cases are discounted and don't forget to try a jar of Cultured Organic Garlic Flowers!

  • I was checking on the actual size of the bottle. My empty one says 10 ounces and it looks like 10 on the bottle shown on your site. Do you think it is actually 10 or is 8 the accurate #?

  • The bottle does appear to say 10 oz., but in checking with Caldwell's they say that the bottles are indeed 8 ounces.
