- Is this container suitable for fermenting my own miso paste?
- Yes, if you leave no room at the top, add some plastic wrap and then tightly seal the lid. Here is a link to our recipe that says more specifically what kind of vessel to use: http://www.culturesforhealth.com/how-to-make-mugi-miso-recipe

- just got one and I put the correct amount of water in airlock but it is poring out and leaking over . why is that?
- Check the headspace above your vegetable/brine mixture in the jar. You should have 1-2 inches headspace. The liquid in the jar can bubble up into the airlock, otherwise, and cause an overflow.

- Since the lip of the jar has a smaller diameter than the rest of the jar, and the glass weights have to fit through that smaller diameter, do your glass weights keep all the vegetables submerged? Or do some of the vegetables come up on the side of the weights?
- The Fermented Vegetable Master Half-Gallon comes with 3 glass weights. Unless your jar is over-packed, the 3 weights should be sufficient to spread out and keep the veggies submerged.

My husband and I began making sauerkraut and kimchi a few months ago with two Half-Gallon Fermented Vegetable Masters. We'd never cultured anything before and were pretty nervous about it. The Vegetable Masters made it a no-brainer. Fill 'em up, put 'em in the pantry, wait. Eat! No mold, no slime, no stink, no babysitting. Just crunchy & delicious kraut and kimchi. I'm back on the site to order more equipment. I do think the price is a somewhat steep for a glass jar & plastic airlock, but I'm willing to pay for the ease of use and peace of mind. Recommended. I haven't had time to use these to ferment any veggies yet but I have used them to make my kombucha! I got all three sizes of jars and they're all very sturdy, the lids fit well and the little glass weights seem like they will do their job very well. I'm very happy that I have different sizes to work with. (Posted on January 13, 2013)Quality Price Value
