Recipe: Homemade Natural Mascara

The use of mascara dates back to the ancient Egyptians. Homemade mascara is easy to make and safe for sensitive eyes. This mascara recipe will make your lashes bigger, bolder, and healthier in no time!

NOTE: Proper mascara use includes disposing of the tube and brush after 4- 6 months. Mascara brushes can harbor bacteria and should be cleaned regularly.

  1. Place beeswax and aloe vera gel in a glass bowl. Melt using one of the following methods: Microwave in 30 second intervals, or place glass bowl over a pot of hot water.
  2. Add jojoba oil, bentonite clay, and vitamin E oil to the bowl; mix with toothpick or small wooden stirring stick until thoroughly combined.
  3. Mix in a small amount of pigment powder; gradually add more until desired shade is reached.
  4. Use a syringe or eye dropper to fill mascara container.
NOTE: When adjusting color for DIY make-up products, it helps to test it on your own skin. To test, dip a toothpick or butter knife into the mix, cool, and test product on your skin to judge color. Make adjustments as desired.
