Recipe: Grapefruit Geranium Body Butter

Rich in nourishing fats and emulsifying butters, with an extra dose of hydration from the vitamin E oil and a light, beautiful floral-citrus scent, this body butter takes the place of any commercial, chemically-laden product.

Instructions:

  1. Add coconut oil, mango butter, and almond oil to a double boiler; melt gently, stirring occasionally with a whisk or rubber spatula.
  2. Once all ingredients have melted, remove from heat and cool for approximately 5 minutes. Place in refrigerator until the liquid just barely begins to solidify, approximately 1 hour.
  3. Remove from refrigerator and mix in essential oils. Use a mixer set on the lowest setting to begin whipping the butter. Increase speed to medium-low and whip until white and fluffy. If body butter is difficult to whip, it may require further refrigeration. Simply return the bowl to the refrigerator to set up a bit more, then repeat whipping step.
  4. Scrape body butter into a sealable container. Butter will keep at least a month if kept sealed tight and stored in a cool place. Use very clean hands to dip into the body butter to prevent the introduction of foreign bacteria.
