    • Can this also be used for milk kefir?
    • We find that making milk kefir using a cloth bag for the grains does not work out well. The bag prevents the grains from being exposed fully to the entire container of milk, and the milk does not culture well. We prefer a fine-mesh strainer to separate the grains at the end of the culturing period instead.

    • Can I use these muslin bags for draining whey off ricotta and mozzarella?
    • Yes, the bags can be used for straining. You can also use butter muslin which might be a little easier when workign with cheese curd: http://www.culturesforhealth.com/butter-muslin.html

Nice size bags Review by L.

I like the large size of these bags for the kombucha tea. They seem to be a good quality, have only used them one time.

Very useful Review by Sue

I have several bags, one for loose tea and several for nut milks. They rinse out easily and I frequently dry them in the sun. A great product

works great... Review by Faith

as long as you're not a dummy like me and put so much loose leaf tea in that there's no room for expansion. "/ I got these for making large batches of tea for kombucha.

Didn't work for me. Review by WilhelmGGW

I really had high hopes this would work well making water kefir.. to not have to strain out the grains each time. Just transfer bag from batch to batch. Tried every way I could think of to keep bag submerged in water kefir, so mold wouldn't form on top of bag. Took way too much time trying (unsuccessfully) one thing, then another. Just went back to straining.

Note from CFH: We do not recommend using a bag to hold the kefir grains. To reduce the risk of mold, allow the grains to culture in the sugar water and use a strainer to remove them at the end of culturing. A plastic strainer is perfect for the job: http://www.culturesforhealth.com/plastic-nylon-strainer.html
