    Not flimsy at all. Plastic is thick and durable. The follower plate is also very thick and rigid. The follower is just a flat plate and does not have any type of "handle" or outset walls to hold a press foot, can, or whatever you want to use. So if you're only making 1-2lbs of cheese, you'll have to make sure your press is able fit down inside the cylinder or use a can as a spacer or something. It has a bottom with holes and also 6 little nubs on the bottom which keep the bottom off the counter and allow liquid to escape. As was said in the Q&A, the diameter of the cylinder changes maybe 1/4" from bottom to top. The follower goes ALMOST all the way to the bottom. 1 lb loads could be done with this.

    • hello, i see that this has up to a 4# capacity, but what would be the smallest # i could do with it? would it work for a 2# cheese?
    • The pressing plate in this mold goes down to about an inch from the bottom of the mold, so you could probably make as little as one pound of cheese in it.

    • Can two of these be stacked to press two rounds of cheese??
      Is the pressing plate easily taken out when pressed down quite a ways?

      No, they wouldn't be able to be stacked as the wood or plastic follower needs to be have contact with the press and the pressing plate for each mold.

      The plates are fairly easy to get out, not as easy as the tome mold style though.

      We have a new product up today that makes a lot more cheese if that is what you are interested in: http://www.culturesforhealth.com/large-hard-cheese-shaping-mold.html. It will do a block of cheese 5-10 pounds in size. We don't have a picture up yet, but it looks almost identical to this (only bigger) http://www.culturesforhealth.com/tome-cheese-mold-and-lid.html. These ones have lids/presses that are easier to remove.

    • Most of our cheese molds are made in France. Some are made in Australia.

      Does this mold has a base? or is it baseless? Also, it the Diameter at the base is tha same as at the top?

    • Yes, this one has a base. The "large mold for hard cheese" on our site is the one that doesn't have a bottom to it. The top and the bottom are practically the same, with maybe a 1/4" difference.
