Details

Guar gum is a natural thickening agent derived from the little-known guar bean. While it is used more extensively in the commerical food industry, it makes a great addition to whole grain and gluten-free baking at home. While gluten-free flours commonly don't rise well, adding Guar Gum enhances the thickness of these flours and helps them take on the light, fluffy consistency of other baked goods.

How to Use Guar Gum Powder

  • Use to thicken whole grain and gluten-free flours and create lighter, fluffier baked goods
  • Add to sauces and salad dressings
  • Use to thicken homemade yogurt: For every 3-4 cups milk, add 1 teaspoon guar gum to a small amount of milk, heated and cooled to culturing temperature; mix well, then combine the small amount of milk with the larger portion of milk.
