When I first tried to activate a batch of water kefir it didn't work. In my next order I decided to try it since the first one failed without it. I use filtered water which at the time I didn't realize REMOVES a lot of the necessary and essential minerals! This time and every time since I have used the Drops. They work like magic. I even started adding the Drops to all my drinking water and even my pets' water. The drops kept the Kefir healthy and growing beyond belief. If I didn't see it with my own eyes I wouldn't have believed it.! It also improved the taste of the water.

Water kefir grains appear to thrive when product is added to the water & produce better batches of beverage. Also seems to produce more action in first few days veggie ferments. Have also started adding to drinking water of family & pets. I highly recommend this product for those who need to increase mineral intake or having trouble with water kefir grains.

These mineral drops helped save my kefir grains! I was having problems with my grains deteriorating and creating foul-smelling water kefir (I use carbon-filtered drinking water). I went through the recommended procedures for cleaning and resting sick kefir grains, including adding these drops, and brought my grains back from the brink. Now I use these drops with every batch and my grains are healthy and big. Best of all, no more rotten-smelling kefir!

    • I'd like to add some mineral content to the RO water that we drink. Is there an ideal proportion of Concentrace per ounce of water? Thank you.
    • It will depend on the mineral content of the water to begin with, and what your need for minerals is. You might consult with a health care provider regarding this. ConcenTrace can also be used in the water you use to make water kefir, and that too will depend on the mineral level of the water. You can experiment to find out what level of ConcenTrace keeps the grains healthy and productive. Try starting with 5 or 10 drops in a quart and see how the grains respond.

    • Can I use distilled water and the ConcenTrace drops? I have a home distiller and do not have a home filter.
      Thank You.
    • Yes. Water Kefir Grains can not survive long in distilled water, they need minerals.

    • I have a reverse osmosis water filtration system and our tap water is filtered through a water softener. Am I able to use the Trace Mineral Drops to re-hydrate the water kefir grains? Or should I boil and cool our tap water to re-hydrate the grains?

      Thank you.
    • If you have ConcenTrace Mineral drops, go ahead and rehydrate your grains using your reverse osmosis water. If not, using boiled tap water is fine. The mineral content in tap water varies depending on your area / supplier so it may or may not need additional minerals. • I will be making my kefir with well-water. Do I need to filter it? Do I need the trace minerals for use with the well water?
    • You may need to filter your well water and supplement with minerals, and you may not. It will depend on what is in your well water. We have an article on water sources for culturing that may be helpful: http://www.culturesforhealth.com/water-source-making-cultured-fermented-food

  • From Ann at 11/28/2011 3:04 PM
    • Is this used in the water with the kefir grains or during the second fermentation without the grains when adding juice?
    • This should be used in the first ferment, since it is nourishment for the grains.
