New England Sourdough Starter:

An excellent basic sourdough culture.

Originating in the 1800's, this is an easy culture to use, rises quickly and makes wonderful bread. For best results, we recommend feeding your sourdough starter weekly.

This sourdough culture is available as a dried starter.

Dried sourdough cultures are shelf stable and do not have to be fed or cared for immediately (making them more appropriate for busy individuals or to be given as a gift). Dried sourdough cultures can be ready to create baked goods within 3-5 days.

This starter was very easy to get going, and I have made some very yummy baked goods with it (sourdough English muffins today - YUM). The flavor is wonderful, and so far the culture has been easy to maintain; hopefully it will give me many years of delicious baked goods!

I love this starter! In the past I've had inconsistent results with bread made using commercial yeast. Not any longer. Now, I can make a great loaf of bread every time that even my picky eaters enjoy and with so few ingredients. Sourdough rocks!

I purchased the starter in May of this year and have lost count of how much bread I have made since. The kit made the starting process a breeze and my culture is very easy to maintain and seems quite happy. I was a good baker before but this has taken my bread to a new level.
